The hottest weather in Florida so far this year is set to grip Central Florida, with several cities expected to challenge or break daily temperature records by Thursday.

Wednesday Weather Forecast

The first wave of intense heat arrives Wednesday afternoon as temperatures climb into the lower and middle 90s inland, while coastal communities stay in the upper 80s.

Leesburg has one of the highest chances of tying or surpassing its longstanding record high of 93 degrees set in 2007.

Sunshine will dominate the forecast, and dry conditions are expected across the region.

Thursday Weather Forecast

Thursday is forecast to bring the hottest weather in Florida since Aug. 14, 2025.

A southwest wind pattern will weaken the cooling effects of the sea breeze, allowing temperatures to soar into the low and mid-90s throughout Central Florida, including beachside areas.

Several cities, including Daytona Beach, Melbourne, Leesburg, and Sanford, could break daily heat records.

The combination of extreme heat, dry air, and gusty winds will also create an elevated wildfire threat.

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Thursday because even a small spark could quickly ignite and spread fires.

Friday Through the Weekend Weather Forecast

Weather conditions begin to change slightly by Friday as a weak front stalls north of the region, bringing more moisture back into the atmosphere.

Scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop on Friday and continue into the weekend, with rain chances ranging from 30% to 50%.

While storms will be scattered, a few could become strong, producing frequent lightning, wind gusts between 40 and 45 mph, and brief heavy rainfall.

  • Stay indoors with air conditioning whenever possible.

  • Take frequent breaks in the shade if you must work or exercise outside.

  • Never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles.

  • Eat light meals and avoid excessive caffeine or alcohol, which can increase dehydration.

  • Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, nausea, heavy sweating, headache, or muscle cramps.
